I’ve always enjoyed exercise. I was a sporty kid and it’s remained important to me to be fit and healthy. I’m also a massive foodie so exercising allows me to fuel that habit too!
I usually aim to exercise 3-4 times a week but it always feels like a huge challenge. There’s normally a more exciting offer which manages to twist my arm. Drinks after work, going out for dinner with my husband. Or just a rubbish excuse which I can very easily convince myself is valid. It’s raining, it’s too dark, it’s too light, it’s too sunny, I’ll go tomorrow, the list goes on.
However, over the last 6 weeks, exercising has become much more important to me and has definitely jumped up the priority list. Mind you, with socialising over drinks or dinner off the table for the foreseeable future, my to do list isn’t exactly over flowing right now.
I’ve found myself losing track of how many times I exercise in a week, which is refreshing when compared to constantly trying to find time for that 4th workout. Having so much more time on my hands has definitely helped but it’s also an effort to keep my mental health in check. Exercise gives me the headspace I need to consolidate my thoughts, recalibrate and go again. It’s also a great way to release some energy, without it I tend to become a bit hyperactive!
With all this in mind, I wanted to share the people and channels that are keeping my body and mind fit and healthy right now.
@gofitswindon

GoFit Swindon are currently offering 5 live online classes per week, a mixture of circuits and toning. I’ve joined some other online classes and totally appreciate that it’s not the easiest thing to do but Beth is amazing at it! Her classes are varied, challenging and great fun. It’s nice to feel like we’re all exercising together but from the safety of our own living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, gardens, etc. Beth isn’t asking for any payment for the classes, just donations which she’s using to buy vouchers from local businesses. Each voucher will be put into a prize draw and anyone that’s donated has the chance to win. We’re keeping fit and doing good at the same time!
MadFit
A couple of weeks ago, I discovered MadFit and it’s changed my life. I don’t think that’s too much of an exaggeration! With new videos added to her YouTube channel almost everyday, it’s impossible to get bored. I particularly love the song workouts, I’m terrible at them and am too out of breath to tell my left from my right most of the time but that doesn’t stop me pretending I’m in a music video!
Good, old fashioned running
I’ve suddenly discovered a love for running. Well, light jogging. I’ve been taking it very slowly but have been enjoying it so much. I’m not too worried about getting a “good time”. I love listening to podcasts while I run as it distracts from thinking about how tired I am or how far I’ve got left to run. Look out for a future blog on our favourite podcasts at the moment…there are quite a few!

Must go, Madfit’s just uploaded a new video…
