Is there such a thing as having too many sets of pyjamas? It’s essential to have a set for every occasion, right? You’ve got your standard, sleeping-pyjamas (the ones everybody’s familiar with). Then you’ve got your Saturday morning pyjamas because no one wants to catch up on the latest episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race in pyjamas that have been slept in all night. Then there’s your “I’ve had a shower but I’m not planning on getting dressed today” pyjamas. Oh, and don’t forget your evening chill but not ready for bed yet pyjamas. And if there’s one positive that lockdown has brought us, it has to be daytime pyjamas. More commonly referred to as ‘loungewear’, for those in denial about wearing ‘jammies’ 24/7.
In full lockdown-mode last weekend, I decided to sort through my ever-growing collection and make the difficult decision of which sets I should keep and which are really past their best. I probably halved the pile I had – great progress. It was cleansing and means that the drawer next to my bed is no longer bursting with countless sets of fairly similar pyjamas meant for very different occasions (as we’ve already discussed).
So, the problem is, I can’t stop looking for new sets to replace the old ones. In fact, the problem has gotten so bad that I text a friend yesterday saying “It’s crazy to spend £120 on pyjamas isn’t it…”. In case you’re wondering, I’ve not got a bottomless pit of money and have been on furlough for 3 months so need to make a few cut backs. But they looked so luxurious, so cozy, so comfy. And I’m sure, at £120 a set, I’d look the perfect mix of sexy and relaxed, just like the model on the website. Thankfully, I picked the right friend to text and she put me straight. “Yes, it is crazy to spend £120 on pyjamas”.
In case you were wondering, here are those beautiful pyjamas. But please, please, don’t consider living on super noodles for a month to finance them. It’s not worth it.
I’ve had to move on, I couldn’t justify those gorgeous pyjamas and nor could my bank balance. I did, however, spend an evening browsing multiple websites looking for a much cheaper alternative. So, fear not, that drawer next to my bed will soon be overflowing once again. I had planned to include a few links to alternatives I found but there’s only one link you need.
Remember when I found the ultimate candle? Well, I’ve done it again…I’ve found the ultimate pyjamas!
Their Nibs
Their Nibs pjs are the perfect substitute for the beautiful Desmond and Dempsey pyjamas. I discovered Their Nibs on Instagram and have fallen in love with their designs. They’re all hand designed and they have the dreamiest kimono / pjs sets – the perfect accessory to a cozy weekend at home. Oh, and they have POCKETS! I went for the jungle cotton shortie set as my first pair but it’s only a matter of time before I’ll be back for more.

Let me know if you decide to get some!
